Cross stitch and sewing finishes

After YEARS I decided to start finishing things that are waiting in boxes, boxes under boxes, and boxes hidden by a pile of boxes behind another one... and all those kits, waiting to be done in baskets, keeping company to the charts, waiting in a binder, just for the hypothetical & unlikely chance to see me having any interest in them... do you see what I mean ? Yep, years of a big mess of unfinished things.
I love taking part into challenges, as it's a great way to dig through those heaps of "last chance before the bin" things... and see if I can finish/stitch/sew some.
Here we go, thanks to Augustine Bobine who is offering those challenges quite often, I finished not only some matching the "reindeer/deer/moose" thema given, but some others as well...

the picture is awful, sorry, I couldn't find a way to take a better pic with the flash, and the house is very dark (because of all the fabrics/curtains/plastic sheets I had to use to try to make the house less cold) so I can't do without the flash....

It's not showing up but the fabric is hand-dyed, so it looks like a marbbled one

this is so old I can't remember who the designer was or when I stitched this.. LOL

I found a Mill Hill frame in my stash that is at the right size. Perfect ! I was so surprise to see there are 2 holes and a kind of rod at the back of the frame. It took me some time to understand it's working like a foot for the frame. Clever (and cheap). An idea I might re-use

Heart in Hand kit

Lizzie*Kate design, I used some sparklng thread for the hat, but it's not showing on the picture :-(

I used to like a lot this designer, but after she retired she did something I really found... weird and quite unfair (let's say it : un respectful) for the cross stitch shops... so I think I'll no more stitch things from her...I'll finish what I have, but my left over charts will all be sold, even if I didn't stitch the chart. It's the same with a couple of other designers (for other reasons) who will never get my money again... *deception*

Sheep challenge (sewing - felt - cross stitch)

I've been searching high and low to get the magazine this pattern came in... no success... but I finally discovered you can buy it from a website (pdf pattern) so I went for this solution. I just replaced the brown background with purple, and all the buttons (bobbins and such) by very simple ones (found those on a very old shirt). I also repaired my sheep measuring tape (wind-up one) and added my floss bobbins (by Just Another Button Company)

Tone Finnanger (Tilda) pattern, I already made several in the past and offered those to ex friends or charity sales... I was regretting deeply not to have kept a set, so... here they are, and it's great because I finished my "towel type" fabric stash (I am in a major stash reduction)

same for this one, I made so many, and none for me. Now I have one !

Porte bobines pour rubans

J'ai un bon stock de rubans, dentelles, cordons et autres fanfreluches. J'ai eu la fâcheuse manie d'en récupérer un peu partout, pour mes finitions de broderie principalement. Puis pour agrémenter du linge de maison. Puis pour décorer mes paquets cadeaux. Puis... enfin voilà le résultat calamiteux  : pour le moment, tout est en vrac dans un tiroir, ce qui est fort peu pratique... Je déteste perdre du temps à chercher ce dont j'ai besoin, j'ai des bobines, des cartes, des enroulages en vrac... ça ne ressemble à rien !

Je n'aime pas trop faire les magasins, et encore moins pendant les soldes, mais j'avais besoin d'une protection de doigt pour la broderie (non, je ne peux toujours pas m'habituer au dé à coudre, rien à faire !), et c'est par hasard que je suis tombée sur cette petite chose tout à fait mignonne.

Alors les qualités : esthétique, on met pas mal de bobines sur les 3 étages, facile à construire, et le prix payé (voir plus loin)
Les défauts : un des "bouchons" de bout de réglette ne rentre pas, il faudra que je ponce pour que ça rentre, il n'y a que 3 étages

Il s'agit d'un porte-bobines de marque "Tilda", d'ailleurs le magasin soldait TOUT ce qui est Tilda à -70% (tissus, babioles, livres, etc). Malheureusement je n'avais pas les moyens de prendre d'autres choses, dommage... Le porte-bobines est vendu sans les bobines, ce qui ne me dérange pas car je les trouve belles mais bien trop volumineuse, ce qui limite le nombre qu'on peut caser par étage.
Parlons maintenant des choses qui fâchent, parlons argent. 

Normalement il vaut 29.99€ ce qui est ridiculement cher (je pense qu'on paie la marque, bien plus que l'objet). Mais à -70% je l'ai eu pour 9€ et là ok, ça me va. Et puis j'ai dans l'idée de refaire un peu le même, en mettant moins d'espace entre les barres, pour mes toutes petites bobines (comme celles qu'on peut voir vers ma main, sur la 1ère photo), donc en mettant + de barres au final. J'en aurais trouvé un 2ème, je pense que j'aurais sacrifié autre chose pour m'en payer un 2ème, mais il n'y en avait qu'un alors... y'a plus qu'à fabriquer !

Pour le reste, je vais essayer de trouver ou fabriquer des bobines en carton, et les dentelles iront sur des cartes, dans une boite à thé retrouvée dans les combles, que je vais donc recycler. Y'a plus qu'à !
